Paul Southwick

Paul Southwick is an attorney in the Portland office of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP. He earned his JD from the University of Michigan Law School. Paul is a graduate of George FoxUniversity and a former adjunct faculty member in the university’s communications department. One of Paul’s areas of expertise is in the intersection between LGBTQ rights and the rights of religiously affiliated educational institutions, with a focus on transgender issues. Paul’s cases have been featured in the New York Times, Huffington Post and other news outlets. In 2013, Paul was named one of the 40 Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40 by the National LGBT Bar Association. In 2014, he received an “Equity Award” from the Equity Foundation for his work on behalf of transgender justice. Thompson Reuters selected Paul to its list of “Oregon Rising Stars” in 2014 and 2015. Paul is also a member of the Multnomah Bar Association’s Equality & Diversity Committee.
