Corwin E. Smidt

Corwin E. Smidt is professor emeritus of political science at Calvin College, where he also served as the director of the Paul B. Henry Institute for the Study of Christianity and Politics. His most recent books include American Evangelicals Today (2013), The Disappearing God Gap? Religion in the 2008 Presidential Election (2010), The Oxford Handbook of Religion and American Politics (2009), and Pews, Prayers, and Participation: Religion and Civic Responsibility in America (2008). A founding member of the Religion and Politics section of the American Political Science Association, he has served several terms on the executive council of the section and as the section’s Executive Director.  His professional service also includes serving as a member of the governing council of the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion (2009-2011). He currently serves as a research fellow with the Henry Institute.
